Inauguration: Logistics centre & P61 extrusion line at HAI in Ranshofen
Hammerer Aluminium Industries (HAI) celebrated the opening of the new logistics centre and the inauguration of the new P61 extrusion line at the Ranshofen site on 12.6.2024. Numerous guests of honour from politics, business and the press accepted the invitation to Upper Austria.
Ranshofen (13.06.2024) – On 12.06.2024, the new P61 extrusion press, including upstream and downstream production facilities, was officially inaugurated at the Hammerer Aluminium Industries (HAI) extrusion plant in Ranshofen. The new logistics centre at the site was also opened. These two projects mark the successful completion of a EUR 125 million investment package by the HAI Group in order to remain fit for the future in the coming years.
Festive ceremony on the factory premises
The official inauguration of the new P61 extrusion press in Ranshofen marks the successful conclusion of a comprehensive investment offensive. “We have become the technology leader in lightweight aluminium components for the transport sector at the Ranshofen site. With the new P61 and the entire upstream and downstream processes, we can produce highly complex aluminium profiles with excellent crash properties for Europe’s renowned OEMs. This step was strategically important and today’s inauguration fills us with pride,’ explains CEO Rob van Gils.
The 14,000 m² logistics centre in Ranshofen was also officially opened as part of the celebrations. The ultra-modern hall with warehouse and loading area now also has a high-bay warehouse for customer load carriers, in which goods are automatically stored and retrieved.
Numerous guests of honour celebrate with HAI
Guests of honour from politics and business celebrated the inauguration of the new P61 in Ranshofen with the HAI Group. First and foremost, the Governor of Upper Austria, Thomas Stelzer: ‘HAI in Ranshofen – that is technological expertise made in Upper Austria! I am delighted that Hammerer Aluminium Industries has invested in Ranshofen, especially in these times, so that we are equipped for the challenges of the future. Ranshofen has long since established an excellent reputation as a technology leader in lightweight aluminium components, and this will remain the case in the future. Upper Austria is the land of business, labour and innovation – that’s why Upper Austria and companies like HAI fit together so well.”
The mayor of Braunau, Johannes Waidbacher, and the mayor of Neukirchen a. d. Enknach, Johann Prillhofer, were also present. Numerous representatives from the local economy also attended the ceremony, emphasising the importance of the major investment for the entire region. Pastoral director Irene Huss performed the traditional consecration of the new P61.
Leadership & sustainability: no contradiction for HAI
The HAI Group now operates 13 extrusion presses with an annual capacity of 125,000 tonnes. Together with the annual recycling and casting capacity of 250,000 tonnes, the innovator from Ranshofen plays a leading role in the aluminium industry.
The HAI Group is pursuing an ambitious sustainability strategy in order to continuously increase the sustainability of aluminium products through constant innovation. COO Dr Markus Schober gave exciting insights into this in his presentation ‘Sustainability & Technology’ at the opening ceremony. The HAI Group’s CO2 emissions are well below the European average and a fraction of the global figures. The pioneer in lightweight aluminium construction already offers its customers a ‘green’ alternative to existing standard alloys with its SustainAl alloys. With the major investments that have been completed, the company is ideally equipped to successfully master the challenges of our time.
